Chiles-Whitted Airliner Encounter

Eastern Airlines pilots Clarence Chiles and John Whitted observed a large, rocket-shaped craft with two rows of bright windows pass within 700 feet of their DC-3. The craft had no wings, emitted a blue flame exhaust, and was traveling at an estimated 700 mph. A passenger also briefly observed it. Classified by Project Sign as "unidentified." The incident drove a faction within Sign to conclude ET origin.
