US Army Reserve helicopter (UH-1H, crew of 4) led by Captain Lawrence Coyne encountered a gray, cigar-shaped craft with a red front light and green rear beam over Mansfield. The craft locked a green beam on the helicopter; Coyne felt the aircraft suddenly pulled upward from 1,700 to 3,500 feet despite full-down collective. All instruments failed during the encounter. Witnessed by five ground witnesses below. Army investigated and certified crew as credible.
