Multiple F/A-18 pilots from various East Coast squadrons reported UAP encounters through official AARO channels after 2021 UAP reporting policy changes removed the reporting stigma. Reports described small, sphere-shaped metallic objects operating at 25,000–35,000 feet with no visible propulsion, no radar cross-section, and the ability to accelerate beyond F/A-18 maximum speed. AARO Director Sean Kirkpatrick noted the cluster as "indicative of a persistent pattern." Multiple active-duty pilots testified anonymously to Congress.
