Canadian Armed Forces radar at the Mingan DEW Line station tracked an unidentified target moving at 6,000+ mph at 80,000 feet. A CF-101 Voodoo interceptor was vectored but could not close the gap. The object made three 90-degree turns at speed before departing north. Canadian Department of National Defence documented the incident; Project Magnet director Wilbert Smith had previously noted similar Canadian detections from 1950–1954.
